Cookie policy

Updated: 14 May 2026

This document explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on the information site about the Vasa Museum, what they are for, and how you can manage them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser. They allow the site to remember your settings, support certain features, or collect statistics. Alongside cookies there is a similar mechanism — the browser's local storage (localStorage) — which works on the same principle but is not automatically sent to the server with each request.

Which cookies our site uses

The Site does not use any advertising, marketing or analytics cookies. We do not connect to any third-party analytics providers, ad networks, or social buttons that would share data with third parties.

Technical data we store

Local storage entries
NameTypeLifetimePurpose
vasa_cookie_choice localStorage Until removed Remembers your choice in the cookie notice dialog so it is not shown again.

This entry is stored locally in your browser and is not transmitted anywhere. Its absence does not affect browsing — the only consequence is that the cookie notice dialog will appear again on your next visit.

Server logs

The hosting provider may keep standard technical access logs (IP address, time of request, browser type). These logs are used solely for diagnostics and server protection and are not classed as cookies. For more, see our privacy policy.

Third-party services

Pages on the Site do not contain social media widgets, embedded video players from external platforms, advertising blocks or other embeds that would set third-party cookies.

How to manage cookies

You can remove the local entry and any cookies through your browser settings:

Most browsers let you set notifications about cookies or block their storage entirely. This may affect how some sites work, but on our site no functionality will be disabled.

Changes

If we change the storage technologies we use, we will update this document. The date of the last update is shown above.
